The Budwig Diet for Curing Cancer and Promoting Optimal Health

Dr. Johanna Budwig – was one of Germany’s top biochemists as well one of the best cancer researchers throughout all of Europe. She was born in 1908 and lived to be 95. Seven times she was nominated for the Nobel Prize. Dr.Budwig claims to have had over a 90% success rate with her diet and protocol with all kinds of cancer patients over a 50 year period which is why The Budwig Center uses this as the basis of their program and we have been directly authorized by Dr. J Budwig to do so, when we visited her in August 2000.

Dr. Lloyd Jenkins N.D., the owner of The Budwig Center, joined us this morning to share with us The Budwig Diet Protocol. He explained the 4 main cause of cancer and most other illnesses and how curing cancer at the center is approached. We’ve heard a lot about this program lately which prompted us to get the answers from a real expert and the beauty of The Budwig Protocol is that it can easily be adopted into your life to promote ideal health.

The Budwig Protocol

Only use Flax Oil from the refrigerated section of your health food store. Never use capsules, flakes or flax oil from the shelves. It must be refrigerated and check the expiration date to make sure it has not expired. I would not use High Lignan Flax Oil because the taste is not clean and you can not tell if it is rancid. They have left the husk from the processing of the seeds in the bottom of the bottle, leaving less product. You want good clean tasting oil and no flavoring added as some oils are doing.

The mixing ratio is two tablespoons of cottage cheese to one tablespoon of oil. Mix only the amount you are consuming at one time so it is mixed fresh each and every time. One example would be to mix (4) tablespoons of cottage cheese to (2) tablespoons of flax oil, consumed twice daily or more depending on the severity of the health condition, one is attempting to address. One should probably start slowly with the oil, maybe just once a day and work their way up letting the body adjust to the protocol. The oil and the cottage cheese must be thoroughly mixed at a low speed, using an Immersion Blender, blending until a creamy texture with no standing oil is achieved.

The mixture should then be immediately consumed!!

Do not add anything to the mixture until AFTER it is mixed!!

We have always recommended using the immersion [stick or wand like] mixer for the Flax Seed Oil and Cottage Cheese. Here is a link to photos of an immersion mixer: Immersion Mixer

One may want to consider sprinkling a tablespoon or two of freshly ground flax seed over top of the freshly mixed flax oil and cottage cheese mixture. Mix this in by hand. This super charges the protocol. Do not buy pre-ground flax seed as the flax seed goes rancid 15 minutes after grinding. Brown or Golden whole flaxseed is available at the health food stores and either will work. You may grind up the fresh flax seed with a small coffee grinder. Store the seeds in the refrigerator and grind fresh each time.

You may also stir in with a spoon 2-3 tablespoons of organic lowfat milk for a creamer mixture. This can be mixed in by hand after the initial blending. The mixture can be flavored differently every day by adding nuts, preferably organic such as pecans, almonds or walnuts (not peanuts), banana, organic cocoa, organic shredded coconut, pineapple (fresh), blueberries, raspberries, cinnamon, or (freshly) squeezed fruit juice. It’s usually best to place the fresh fruit on top of the completed mixture and enjoy as its own meal. Try your best to obtain organic fruit when possible. Many times this can be found frozen when not in season.

Dr Budwig pointed out that people who are suffering from Chronic or Terminal disease should work themselves up to consuming 4 - 8 Tbs of the oil daily. Usually the higher limits 6 - 8 Tbs were for people with cancer. She stated, people with Liver or Pancreatic Cancer etc, may have to work up very slowly with the oil and possibly only start with 1 teaspoon at a time giving their body time to adjust. Dr Budwig pointed out that cancer patients once starting the protocol and getting it under control must continue with a maintenance dose to prevent reoccurrence. A maintenance dose is considered (1) Tbs of the oil per one hundred pounds of body weight. The Budwig Diet takes time to work and in the event of cancer, tumors, etc may take 3-6 months to see results. Many other health issues may respond much faster.

Also here is a very good YouTube Video which actually shows how to make the Flax Oil and Cottage Cheese mixture correctly. When starting the protocol you would not want to make such a large amount at first, as shown in the video.

 What Is Cancer?

Ty Bollinger on Jan 31, 2011 in Cancer Truth

Conventional medicine defines cancer as a colony of malignant cells, or a tumor. If you have a tumor, then the conventional oncologist will try to cut or slash it out via surgery. After they cut you, then they typically recommend chemo to try to kill any remaining cancer cells with toxic poisons. And they will finish off with radiation, to burn whatever cancer cells remain.

This is why I, and many others, refer to “the Big 3” protocol as “Slash, Poison, and Burn.” Alternative medicine sees cancer as a multidimensional, systemic total body disease. The cancer tumor is merely a symptom and the purpose of the alternative cancer treatment is to correct the root causes of cancer in the whole body.

The fact is we develop cancer cells throughout our bodies throughout our lives.  Our bodies are normally able to find them, identify them and destroy them before they are able to grow uncontrollably.  It is a normal occurrence, which is constantly taking place in a healthy body.  It is only when the healthy body becomes unable to mount its normal defenses and the cancer cells are allowed to reproduce at an uncontrollable rate that cancer becomes life threatening.  This is a failure or breakdown of our normal immune system. The immune systems breakdown, and its cause, needs to be treated in conjunction with the cancer, in order to assure the best possible outcome for the patient.  Any treatment that does not address underlying causes for the breakdown of the immune system will be palliative at best, and life threatening at their worst.

It’s important to remember the basic physiology of all cancer cells. Whether it be breast, prostate, renal or lung, there are many facets of their physiology that will remain constant.  Glucose is taken in as a primary food; lactic acid is excreted from the cancer cells into the blood.  The blood carries the lactic acid to the liver, where it is converted back into glucose to feed the cancer cells.  This occurs in all known cancer cells.  It has been well documented in many studies, that, many years ago serum glucose levels were used to monitor the progress of the disease.  It was well established that as the disease progressed, serum glucose levels would rise.

Knowing this, the wisdom of removing simple carbohydrates and sugars from the diet becomes obvious.  The ignorant use of glucose I.V.’s in cancer patients also becomes painfully obvious.   The object is to make it difficult for cancer cells to reproduce.  Why fuel them with a primary requirement?  They are unable to efficiently use protein or complex carbohydrates for food.  The healthy cells of our body and immune system are able to use these as fuel and for repair.  Adapt the patient to a diet that includes protein and complex carbohydrates and eliminate the rest.  This is a simple change that can make a huge difference in the final outcome of the disease process.   It’s also important to remember that a large number of cancer cell types have receptor sites for opiates.  In other words, opiates used to fight pain will actually increase the cancer cell’s growth rate.

The quick shrinkage of tumors that is sometimes seen in chemotherapy or radiation therapy is not a sign of recovery from cancer.  It is a complete shutting down of the normal immune response.  This is as indisputable fact, yet the pharmaceutical companies are allowed to use it to get their chemotherapy approved.  Under optimal conditions, tumors will enlarge as they become engorged with CD-cells and macrophages.  These cells identify the cancer cells, kill them and then devour their remains.  This is an inflammatory response and results in the tumor growing slightly as it becomes engorged with these cells.  If the tumor shrinks quickly from chemotherapy or radiation therapy, the ideal healthy response of the body to controlling cancer does not have a chance to occur.

Never confuse rapid tumor shrinkage with beating the cancer.  It is just the opposite.

CT scans and PET scan show inflammatory responses, not just cancer.  Since the normal and healthy body response are CD-cells infiltration and consuming of cancer cells is also an inflammatory response, they are often confused by radiologists untrained in cancer fighting agents that work with the immune system to facilitate both increases in CD-cells and at the same time being cytotoxic (selectively killing cancer cells).
